IGCSE Coordinator and Examination Officer for CIE

Jayu Ganesh is the IGCSE Coordinator and Examination Officer for CIE in Symbiosis International School since July 2008. She is a great administrator and an even better academician. Jayu leads a team of qualified and experienced teachers who have attended subject specific workshops conducted by Cambridge International Examinations. Since the introduction of the IGCSE in our school, the programme has grown in terms of the number of students and the variety of subjects that have been offered. It is Jayu’s meticulous planning and adherence to the ideals and requirements of the CIE that have facilitated the effective implementation of the course in the 9th and 10th grades.

The success of her leadership is reflected in the excellent results year after year. The IGCSE toppers every year have scored 7 A*’s. In 2012, Shefali Verma was declared the World Topper in environmental Management. Rhea Chug, in June 2013, scored A* in all the eight subjects opted by her. Anoushka Arora has topped the country in Spanish in the IGCSE Examination held in June 2014.

CIE inspections during examinations have declared ‘Complete Satisfaction’ in implementation and conduction of the Checkpoint and IGCSE Examinations adhering to the rules laid by CIE. Jayu’s system of innovative checks, measures and grading techniques has been well received by CIE and accepted internationally. Jayu Ganesh received a letter of commendation from the Vice Chancellor, University of Cambridge Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, and the Chief Executive Officer, Michael O ' Sullivan in the “Celebration of Achievement” event held at the ITC Grand in Mumbai on Sept 16th, 2014. CIE has congratulated her for her dedication and tireless commitment that has contributed to the success and outstanding results of her students every year in the IGCSE Examinations.

Jayu Ganesh is a post graduate in Nuclear Physics and a trained teacher with 25 years of teaching experience. She has taught grades 9 to 12 of the CBSE, ICSE, ISC and the Matriculation Board of Chennai. She has also taught Mathematics and Computer Science apart from Physics, which is her forte. She has set the Computer Science paper for the Grade XI board exams in 1993, the year when Board Exam for Grade XI was introduced by the Tamil Nadu Government. She has attended IB workshops at Athens and Savannah, and online workshops for Internal Assessment and Extended Essay as a DP Facilitator for Physics.

Jayu Ganesh has attended conferences conducted by CIE in Mumbai, Pune and also represents the school in all Regional Networking events of Cambridge International Schools. She has attended the Cambridge School’s Conference at United World College, South East Asia Campus at Singapore in October 2013 which also included a tour of the National University of Singapore. The focus in this conference was on “Preparing our Youth for the jobs of the future” and “Developing learning through the effective use of technology”.

In December 2013 Jayu had an opportunity to participate in the “Future of Learning Forum” conducted by ET Edge, an Economic Times Initiative for the Innovators in Education. This forum threw light on Leveraging Technologies in Education, Education through Sport and other such innovations in Education. Her qualification and experience as an IBDP teacher has enabled her to collaborate with the Diploma Programme Coordinator, which has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of both the programmes.
