Foc-Friends on Campus

Overview

The Friends on Campus has been formed with the aim to have a meaningful, effective and healthy partnership between the school and the parents for the education of the child.

Objectives

  • To work for the overall betterment and welfare of the School and children.
  • To help school in organizing events such as Annual Day, Sports Meet, Community and Service Initiatives etc.
  • To help the institution become an innovative, progressive and pragmatic organization to help children to equip themselves for social responsibility.
  • To promote collaborative learning in different fields.
  • To promote the community of learners by helping and extending the scope of learning.

Membership to FoC

  • All parents whose children are in SIS are members of FoC.

Philosophy

  • The “FoC” is non-profit, non political and non-sectarian.
  • The FoC will, at all times, during its deliberations and actions; work in the best interest of the School.
  • The FoC will, at all times, foster better understanding between all members of the school community and the community at large.
  • The FoC will not concern itself with individual/personal matters.

Eligibility of Acquiring Membership to the Sub Committee..

  • Parents of students of SIS, who are desirous of becoming members of the FoC, (Sub Committee) may do so through an application in writing to the Director/Chairman for the membership.
  • The FoC reserves the right to enroll new members, however any membership application may be rejected by the Director, without giving any reason whatsoever.

Cessation of Membership

Membership to the FoC /Sub Committee may ipso facto be terminated on the following grounds:-
  • If a member is found acting against the interest, prestige and working of the school. However, sufficient opportunity should be given to the member to submit an explanation.
  • The member tenders his resignation in writing to the Director of the school and his resignation is so accepted by him from the membership. (Foc and Sub Committee)
  • If the member’s child/children leave the school or the member permanently leaves India is excluded form the membership.

The FoC Managing Committee

  • The Director is the Exofficio Chairman of FoC.
  • The Parents Representatives in the presence of the Director, shall nominate the Vice Chairman and Secretary.
  • The FoC shall have various Sub-Committees for specific purposes, which may co-opt those with expertise to assist the Sub-Committee with its task.
Please note: In all respects the Director’s decision will be final.

The Sub – Committees:

Food

  • All food related compliments and suggestions will be projected to the representative and he/she in turn brings it to the Teacher Representative.
  • Parents with a flair for Home science or nutrition and dietics will be preferred

Events/Cultural

  • All cultural (annual day celebrations, school fete) activities will be looked after by the representative and he/she helps the school with the help and support of the Teacher Representative.
  • Parents with a flair in events and cultural activities will be preferred.

Community/Social Service

  • All social activities, community service activities (if necessary) can be handled by the parent representative.
  • People who have any association with NGO of some organization will be preferred.

Support Services

  • All housekeeping, infrastructure, parking and transport etc. related suggestions will be handled by this committee.

Discipline Committee

All discipline related suggestions such as uniform, punctuality etc will be handled by this committee.
  • The Director shall preside at all meetings of the Managing Committee of the Association. In the Absence of the Chairman , the Vice Chairman shall co-preside over the meetings.(if needed)
  • 33 % of the total number of members of the Managing Committee of the FoC shall form a valid quorum at the meetings of the Managing Committee of the FoC. Without quorum, no business shall be translated. The Director, Vice Chairman, secretary, teacher representative, coordinator, Dean Admin and parent representative will comprise the Managing Committee of the FoC.
  • The FoC Managing Committee shall be nominated for a two year term. Before the expiry of the term, new nominations will be called for.

  • The minutes will be circulated by Secretary to all concerned.
  • These meetings shall be held twice a year (August, February) and as and when needed.

Individual Roles of Office Bearers

Vice Chairman

  • Organise meetings in consultation with the Director and see that committee procedures are followed.
  • Suggest any proposal, which is deemed fit and proper in the interest of the School.
  • Receive and present to the FoC all incoming correspondence.

Secretary

  • To assist the Vice Chairman and handle all correspondence, before and after the meetings of the FoC.
  • Prepare minutes of the meetings
  • Arrange and keep records of the FoC in consultation with the Director
  • Keep an up-to date record of the FoC and to make available its up-to-date copies to the Director for distribution to parents of new students and the FoC of the School.

Sub Committee Roles

  • To assist the school and members on the committee.
  • To be innovative and creative and suggest steps for improvement.

Class Parent/Representative

  • He should have his or her child in that grade/section.
  • To communicate to the parents of the class in case of unforeseen situations.
  • To direct only matters related to the sub committee.
  • To distribute to respective parent group the minutes of the meeting conducted by FoC.
  • There will be one representative nominated for each grade/section.
